Activity Areas

Activity Areas

Our wide variety of specialty areas allows our teens to enjoy daily athletic, creative, aquatic, group building, personal challenge and environmental experiences. All of our activities are led by trained staff and strike a balance between skill development and personal enjoyment.

Each specialty area also devises specialized program offerings for our daily elective program (Z’man Bechira) to allow teens to focus on areas of personal interest, develop skills, and bond with teens from across camp with shared interests.

Outdoors & Adventure

Low Ropes Course:

A series of games and challenges designed to develop positive group dynamics, leadership skills, decision making and communication skills. Our Ropes Course staff are trained at the beginning of each season in order to become certified facilitators who take groups through the 12-element course with challenges that range from trust falls to getting the entire group over a 12-foot wall!

High Ropes Course:

Challenges range in height and level of difficulty. Campers choose individual elements such as a climbing wall, 40-foot high vine traverse, vertical obstacle courses, zip line, giant ladder and more. The course is inspected annually by a nationally certified challenge course provider that also provides a full certification course for our Ropes Course staff at the beginning of each season, in order to ensure they are practicing the most up-to-date, qualified belay techniques and adhering to safety protocols to ensure a space where teens can challenge their limits in

Tsofiut (Scouting):

Through our partnership with the Tzofim (Israel Scouts movement), we have Tsofim on our tsevet (staff) who help campers connect with Israel through nature and outdoor activities, including building campfires, learning to tie knots, making pita from scratch, and more.

Gardening:

At the “A.D. Garden”, campers have the opportunity for experiential environmental education, through the design, planting, and maintenance of camp’s very own garden plot. Campers connect with nature, learn about natural resources and conservation, and consider a sustainable future, all through a Jewish lens.

Teva (Nature):

Campers will go on an overnight excursions to our campsite across the street, “Machane Gimmel”, to explore nature first-hand, learn about environmental issues, set up camp, cook their own food, enjoy the campfire and bond as a group

Brecha (Pool):

TY’s state-of-the-art aquatic center allows teens to enjoy a wonderful variety of structured and unstructured activities at the pool. Teens play water sports, such as water polo, swim laps, rank their favorite slide, hang out poolside, have parties with tropical themes and get lessons. There is something for everyone!

Sports:

Tel Yehudah has modern sports facilities including, basketball courts (indoor and outdoor), tennis courts, volleyball courts, softball and soccer fields, a gaga pit, and even a frisbee golf course. Teens will have opportunities to play both traditional individual and team sports, as well as alternative group games.  They can also develop their skills, receive instruction, and have access to sports facilities during their free time.

Performing Arts

Rikud (Israeli Dance)

Israeli dance is one of the most popular activities at Tel Yehudah. Campers learn traditional steps and dances as well as dances popular in Israel today. Special events at camp offer multiple opportunities for performance to campers of all skill levels.

Shira (Singing):

Teens learn Hebrew while singing old favorites and learning the modern hits.

Drama:

Drama games, improvisation, and small productions make the elements of drama accessible to all of our teens, as well as provide fun and interactive opportunities for individual and group participation.

Creative & Fine Arts

Omanut (Arts & Crafts):

Teens have the opportunity for creative expression of educational themes through art. Teens also explore the art of modern day Israeli artists such as Piven. Many of the buildings at Tel Yehudah are adorned with beautiful murals created by campers.

Ceramics:

A workshop devoted to ceramics gives campers the opportunity to create tzedakah (charity) boxes, mezuzot, candlesticks and other Judaica, while learning the basics of working with plaster molds and clay.
